Soccer is not a game that’s played on the weekends, it’s a way of life.
Established in 1969 by Donald Greer, Cal North started as a small collection of teams looking for an organized format for their youth soccer competitions. Cal North (then CYSA) was the prototype and predecessor for other state soccer associations as well as for the formation of US Youth Soccer in 1974 also founded by Donald Greer, which is now the largest youth sports organization in the United States. Our vision of “kids first” has been the constant that guides us throughout our evolution and remains our primary motivation for kids in Northern California to play the beautiful game.

Our vision is to offer something for every child. We are committed to offering a program that works for every level of player. Our roots remain in the development of the grass-roots recreational programs that serve the majority of our members. As part of our promise to provide a game for all kids, we also offer programs for the elite level players, the competitive players and for the players with specialized needs.
Our strength is and always has been derived from our members – the leagues, clubs, coaches, administrators, players, parents, and volunteers. Each of them makes us who we are and together have ensured the legacy of our core values. The game of soccer is our conduit for instilling the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, equity, respect, and tolerance.
