SACRAMENTO, Calif. (February 23, 2023) - This week US Youth Soccer is celebrating the 15th Anniversary of Presidents Cup, which is a competition designed for those teams seeking additional challenges to play against teams of similar abilities for a national title. The Presidents Cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.
In those 15 years of Presidents Cup, Cal North has been well represented by many clubs, teams and families at this event.
Today we are shinning the spotlight on a team that has lifted the Far West (Region IV) Presidents Cup trophy; the 00' Corning NCU Manchester United from Corning, California and Cal North District 9.
Located in Tehama County, Corning, California is approximately 50 miles south of Redding and 100 miles north of Sacramento via I-5.
The 00' Corning NCU Manchester United team from 2016 was a special group.
This group had been playing together for several years and includes wonderful history on a local level against SSF United DC Force from Cal North District 1. Corning and DC Force played against each other in the 2015 & 2016 Cal North Presidents Cup, with Corning coming out on top both times.
However; in 2015 SSF United DC Force would be the team to go and represent Cal North at the Region IV Presidents Cup in Snohomish, Washington after Corning NCU Manchester United declined their participation in regionals.

In their three games they did not hold back their firing power, netting twelve goals and only receiving 3.
Quarterfinals was a harder match against WPFC 99 White from Washington, moving on with a close one-nil victory.
The semifinal game played out to be another Cal North vs Cal South clash, with Corning NCU Manchester United running away with it 3-0 against Oxnard United SC.
In the final, Jaime Martinez from Corning would prove to be the difference maker scoring in the 76th minute against Agave La Raza from Arizona. That goal alone would give Corning NCU Manchester United the regional title.
