Young Olympians Program

The Young Olympians Program, also known as Cal North YOP was designed and launched in 2019 for the players that are a year younger than those trying out for the State ODP teams. The program was temporarily paused in 2020 and 2021 while the world dealt with Covid 19.  In 2022 we relaunched the program with much success and enthusiasm.

The goal of the YOP is to facilitate a high-level training environment and offer to the participants opportunities to train and compete with other aspiring players from around the state. The YOP provides to players an introduction experience to the Olympic Development Program, the opportunity to become familiar with the training curriculum used by the ODP and showcase their abilities to our ODP coaching staff. The program provides a pathway to participate in ODP, a national process for identifying and developing the best male and female youth soccer players with the aim of promoting them to the U.S. National Teams. Players participating in this program will be automatically placed on the radar of the State ODP staff for future identification and recommendation for future State ODP Try-Outs.

The Young Olympians Program (YOP) will take place on (3) specific Sundays (YOP Play Days) at the same location as State ODP Try-Outs. These sessions will run concurrently with the State ODP Try-outs for the older players. There will be a limited number of players permitted to enroll in this program in order to keep the appropriate staffing ratio to players at a minimum.

Program goals for the 2023-2024 season will include:
      - (3) Play Days (July, August, September)
      - (6-8) Training Opportunities (Oct-May TBA) Optional for those who registered and participated in Play Days.
      - February Event (Cal North Friendlies with 3 other State ODP programs) Team chosen from those who participated in Trainings.
